In 2001, Jack Eggar, then CEO of AWANA,  led a team to Nightengale Jamaica to construct one of the first Awana game courts outside of the United States. Working with the local missionary Radclif Braham, this court became the driving inspiration for courts built in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

We currently have courts in Jamaica, Antigua, Barbuda (started), and Mozambique Africa. We also have contacts and interested clubs in Barbados and Grenada with plans to expand to other Caribbean Islands.

In most areas where we work, games to draw children where we can reach them with the Good News of Jesus are played on the bare ground. At one church, when discussions started about building a concrete slab for games, club attendance grew by 50% and church attendance grew by 25%. A mere concrete slab is a big deal to all of these children and to the church leaders.

Once agreement has been made between the Short Term Mission team and the local church, a licensed contractor is hired to construct the foundation for the court. In most cases, the preparation work is completed before the team arrives. This is overseen by the local missionary that we are working with.

Once the Short Term Mission team arrives, it is time to start pouring the slab. Sometimes it is necessary to mix the concrete by hand.

The "mud" is then laid out in sections and screeted to level.

The slab is finished and then "broomed" to avoid slips and falls when the children play.

Once the concrete has cured, games lines are then painted. Here, AWANA game lines are being painted.

Let the games begin!
